Marine Broadband

Buzz Networks of Wareham, Dorset have created an innovative broadband device that gives ADSL speed broadband at sea without expensive satellite costs.

Not only does this give you ADSL equivalent broadband speeds up to 20 miles off shore, but it is also capable of supporting VoIP so you can have a local telephone number on your boat.

This innovative product can replace expensive satellite links and makes it affordable and possible to protect your craft by adding a camera surveillance service.

Utilising 3G networks via an integrated data SIM the unit creates a WiFi hotspot instantly and can also be wired via an Ethernet port to connect multiple devices such as iPads and laptops.  It offers cost savings with calls under 1p a min.

The product is a joint development between two companies based in the South West, and has been partly achieved by obtaining iNet (Innovation Network) funding.  The funding allowed the ongoing development of an initial product into what has now become the new HubbaX marine broadband unit.

The product is brand new and launches in October.  It is currently in trials with a number of marine based companies.  So far the feedback has been very good.
